Thankyou for your support of the Sport of Fencing in Australia.

The AFF is pleased to advise that nominations are now open for the Cadet & Junior High Performance Program (comprising the Australian Fencing Team and the Australian Fencing Squad) for the 2017/18 year (1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018).

Fencers (and their parents) who are considering nominating for the HPP should carefully read the documentation contained in the 'High Performance Program' section of this website. In particular, the AFS & AFT Athlete Agreement sets out the financial and other obligations which apply to fencers participating in the High Performance Program, while the HPP Annual Plan sets out the training and competition commitments required of fencers under the program.

Membership of the Australian Fencing Team (AFT) comes with demanding training and competition requirements relevant to fencers aiming to compete at the highest international level (World Championships). The Australian Fencing Squad (AFS) offers a preparatory program to the AFT, which enables fencers to participate in HPP activities while following a slightly less demanding program.

Fencers who are interested in participating in the 2018 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Buenos Aires, Argentina should be aware that they will need to be members of the AFT for 2017/18 in order to pursue qualification for this event. This is because, under the YOG qualification system determined by the FIE, qualification is based solely on results achieved at the 2018 World Cadet Championships. Fencers are only eligible to compete in the YOG if they were born no later than 31 December 2003.

Fencers who wish to nominate for the 2017/18 Cadet & Junior AFT & AFS can do so by clicking here. The deadline for nominations is Monday, 29 May 2017. Fencers who nominate but are not selected for the AFT will be assumed to have also nominated for the AFS (unless otherwise advised).

Please note that fencers who are selected for the 2017/18 HPP will be required to attend the HPP Camp at the AIS in Canberra from 1 to 4 July 2017. Normal registrations for the camp close on 7 June 2017, after which late fees apply. You will be advised prior to 7 June 2017 whether your nomination for the HPP has been successful.
