Athletes Commission – election for vacant position
Following the resignation of Jeremy Shelley earlier this year, an election for the vacant position on the Athletes’ Commission will be conducted at the 2018 Australian Fencing Championships in Melbourne in November.
The Athletes Commission fulfils an important role in the AFF. The key responsibilities of the Commission include:
* representing the interests of fencers and communicating their views to the Board
* arranging seminars and meetings to convey information and gauge views
* carrying out consultation about new ideas and initiatives
All registered fencers over the age of 18 are eligible to stand for election, as well as registered fencers who have retired within the 2 years prior to the election. The current members of the Athletes Commission are Dianna Gu and Davide Wheeler.
The election for the vacant place on the Commission will be held at the 2018 Australian Fencing Championships, to be held in Melbourne from 16 to 20 November 2018. All fencers competing in the Open events will be eligible to vote.
Nominations will be accepted by email to operations@fencing.org.au and must be accompanied by a candidate statement which will then be made available on the AFF website. Nominations must be received no later than 15 October 2018.
